The Christmas Tag

I honestly can’t believe there are just 6 short days until Christmas! With the whirlwind of graduation and moving back home, Christmas kind of slipped under the radar until now. I finished up almost all of my shopping yesterday and am looking forward to spending the weekend with family!

In honor of Christmas being less than a week away, I found The Christmas Tag while scrolling through the depths of WordPress, and while no one tagged me in it, I thought it’d be fun to post anyway!

The Questions:

1. What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?
I love being home and spending time with my friends and family. It was always my favorite break in college because, aside from summer, it was the longest and allowed more time for people. I always felt guilty when I didn’t see someone over a break (AKA Thanksgiving break this year) but Christmas allowed me enough time to see everyone. I also love picking out gifts for people and watching them open them!
2. What’s your favourite Christmas memory?
One time when I was really little, we were on our way to church from Taylorsville where we spent Christmas Eve with my Dad’s side of the family. Every year, we’d spend the 45-ish minute drive looking for Rudolph in the sky. There was one year in particular that we were POSITIVE we found him and I remember being so excited to get home and go to sleep so Santa could come.
3. Are there special traditions your family has for Christmas?
We always make peanut butter balls at my Grandma’s house a week or so before. Christmas Eve is spent with Dad’s side of the family and for years, they’ve always hung a pickle ornament on the tree, which the entire family would huddle around trying to find. Christmas Day, we wake up and open presents at home before going to Grandma’s to repeat the process that afternoon! Sometimes, my friends and I will go to the movies that night!
4. What’s your Christmas wish? (Can be personal or general)
I think personally, I just want things to work out the way they should. My life is about to change completely with being done with school and heading to Disney and I just hope that everything will go as it should.

On the other hand, I think I just want the best for the world. The world and our country are hurting right now, and things need work before they can heal, and I hope 2018 is spent working on that.
5. What’s your favourite Christmas dish?
It’s not a dish, but I LOVE all things peppermint. Peppermint bark, peppermint mochas, you name it, I love it.
6. What’s your favourite Christmas decoration?
Probably the pickle ornament at Mamaw’s just because it holds such sentimental value.
7. What’s your favourite Christmas song?
I have a few:
Mary Did You Know – Specifically the Scotty McCreery version
Mistletoe – Justin Bieber
Baby It’s Cold Outside – Idina Menzel and Michael Buble
8. Where do you usually celebrate Christmas?
Mamaw’s on Christmas Eve, home Christmas Morning, and Grandma’s Christmas Afternoon!
9. What does the ‘Christmas Spirit’ mean to you?
I think it just means being happy, surrounded by people who love you, and having a positive attitude about the holiday season. I see so many people complaining about their packages not coming in fast enough, or the traffic (guilty), or whatever, and I feel like Christmas isn’t Christmas when you’re focusing on those complaints.
10. Who out of anybody in the world would you want to spend your Christmas with?
My family and friends, 100%.

And there we have it! Let me know your Christmas traditions in the comments!
